The ore reserves available for extraction are the most significant asset of any mining operation. The size and grade of the reserve base is determined from a large set of samples located in 3-D space, each of which has grade/quality and possibly density information. Each data point needs to have associated information to prove its source and validity for the resource and reserve estimates. Companies are subject to reserve reporting guidelines (e.g. JORC) that specify minimum quality control data requirements and require the professional staff preparing resource and reserve statements to sign-off on data quality.

A quarantine facility traps data with identifiable problems and extensive logs track system activity.
Exploration Mapping
A simplified spatial mapping system is available to allow a spatial entry point when searching for data. The mapping component allows users to select from preconfigured layers and to browse into traditional database data types from spatial data types.
